Some of my fondest memories are of when i was a kid. I would spend most of my days runing around and investigating the nature around me, the animals, the bugs, plants and rocks. Knowing very little of why things were the way they were, my boundaries of fictional and science werent all there. Its like there wasnt a boundary at all, nature was magical, and magic as natural, as surprised i was about everything it made me think, that anything could be possible. I knew that bugs that lived in a house on their back were real, Santa Claus was most definitively real, so, why not a big prehistoric reptile living in the waters of Scotland!
I miss those days, and most likely they are the reason I am so much into the folklore legends and cryptids. I dont beleive in them, but i do beleive they make for extraordinary and fantastical stories/ characters!
It is a known fact that humans love answers, so much so, that in case of not having a logical one they immediately jump to the supernatural. And I love that! The immense number of brilliant characters and creatures created by human’s imagination throughout the years!
The "Scientific American" website has an article on an interesting ebook that speaks more in depth about this, the article itselft has a good amount of information, however, the ebook’s name is “Hunting Monsters”, and it shows how easily people tend to rely on imagination when it comes to the unknown.
From
Greek gods to more modern UFOs, our imagination has always came to fill the
gaps that science couldn’t fill, and, personally speaking, doing so they
created far much more interesting stories!

If i will be working with an imaginitive subject, might as well create my own imaginations of it.
Thats why i would like to explore the design of cryptids as my final project for Digital Arts. Exploring their design using concept art.
By using only written articles as references i think i could come up with some interesting designs, maybe even placing the cryptids in a different setting like cosmic horror, medieval or uban genres.
Or by creating my own cryptids based on loose ideas.
