Software Choice
Software Choice
The
software I used for this major project is Clip Studio Paint. I purchased a
licenced version in 2019 and it allowed me to produce a lot of digital
paintings, drawings and edit photos.
There were some other software’s that I investigated however the idea of using
them was discarded because I either did not have the financial stability to pay
for the licence (Photoshop), or did not had the tools that I required to use
such a software (Procreate).
Photoshop
has a multitude of great tools in disposal, as a photo editing software it would
allow me to shape and re-shape everything I wanted and have such a strong
control over my result, however like I briefly explain, photoshop licences are
expensive, and the “licence provided” by the university is very strange and glitchy.
Procreate is an amazing software that I have
looked up for a long time now. It has remarkable tools for digital art that
seems unmatched by any other software of the kind.
Unfortunately, it was made only for the iPad, even though it is a free
software.
So,
Clip Studio Paint became the obvious choice here, as it still is a great pixel-based
software for digital art such as painting and drawing.
The
software itself became very popular with comic book creators. Mostly
popularized due to Japanese comic books (manga) but also with western type
comic books, which were the thing that attracted me to the software in the
first place.
