When it comes to talking about myself and my work I usually stumble on some issues. I lack the critically reflection on my own work and work method and therefore never know how to expose my work and explain it critically speaking.

As it was required by the assignment, I started by taking some self portrait pictures using the techniques taught in class. However, I dislike the idea of a “clean” professional basic photo. I’m not selling real estate or I’m not trying to promote my self-image as a selling point, I am trying to sell my art as my individual characteristic.

So, I tried being a bit more experimental, but with the lack of materials and the poor quality of camera and of my own photographic skills, these pictures turned out a disaster.

 

 

 After hiding behind my desk chair while peaking at these cringe worthy pictures I remembered I had some “funny” pictures taken of me for a work of a friend of mine about a year ago. 

I picked one of those photos and started to elaborate on it. I used it as a reference to create a digital painting that I would be comfortable and above all, happy, to use as a about me photo. This image will show everyone how I look yet with the artistic and personal touch I like.

This was the final product.

 

 

 

I was happy with the feedback of my teacher and from my classmates so, I posted it. However, I received constructive criticism regarding the disposition of photo/text and it’s something I will fix as soon as possible.
