Wix Home Page Adjustments
Wix Home Page Adjustments
After having my website reviewed, I was given some tips for how to deal with my home page as there were one small issue with it, which was the amount of work being showcased made it feel more like a scrolling gallery instead of a simple introductory home page. So, the options that were recommended to me were, opting out only 2/4 of those art pieces to showcase, therefore shortening the home page, or, selecting just one of the pieces and use it as a background to the homepage. I tried both to see which one I prefer.
I liked the one art piece as background
approach, however the text popped out way less and even the art piece did not stand
out. It became a lot more colourful, but I feel like it is not what I’m going
for. I used one of the art pieces that had a purple background to make the yellow
tittles pop out, then I started doing small adjustments to make it darker by
removing exposition, lowering the gamma, desaturating a bit and remove the
contrast a bit.
I later opted for the more simplistic
approach. Keep the template but reduce the amount of work. I tried with only
two digital paintings, but it felt a big floaty and empty, so, I kept 4, as it
showcased more of my work, kept the home page colourful with a lot of
complementary colours and blunt shapes mixing with organic ones. I kept the
background a dull dark grey as it puts all focus on the work and makes them pop
out.
I enjoyed this one much more and it ended
up being more similar to those I have researched before.
